Our Founders - who chose to dedicate 4 decades of their sevices to the foundation
After completing his MD at B.J. Medical College, Pune and pursuing further studies in the United States, Dr. Vinod Shah chose to return to India to serve. In 1988, with his wife Mrs. Meena Shah, he founded Janaseva Foundation — guided by a single conviction: service to humanity is service to God.
Decades of quiet, persistent service across rural and urban India.
Six Pillars Of Service
The work of Janaseva Foundation
Decades of quiet, persistent service across rural and urban India — touching the elderly, the unwell, the displaced, and the next generation.
Senior Citizen Care
Well-equipped old-age homes in Pune and Ambi (Haveli Taluka) provide free or subsidized care, companionship, and medical attention for elderly individuals — many of whom have nowhere else to turn.
Healthcare Service
Mobile medical units travel across 15–20 rural villages each week, delivering primary care to communities far from hospitals. Thousands of free cataract surgeries have restored sight to people who had given up hope.
Rehabilitation Programs
Our rehabilitation center in Katraj offers shelter, counseling, and a path forward for street children, beggars, and destitute individuals — meeting people exactly where they are.
Education & Skill Development
Nursing schools and dedicated training programs for ward boys and caregivers prepare young women and men for stable, dignified careers in healthcare.
Sanitation Initiatives
Hundreds of toilets built across rural villages have transformed everyday hygiene and dramatically reduced preventable disease — a quiet revolution in public health.
Rural Development
Rural Development helps make villages self-reliant through sanitation, clean water, healthcare, and tree planting. The Foundation has adopted model villages to improve livelihoods so young people don't need to leave for cities.

From the President of India to the United Nations, Dr. Shah’s lifetime of service has been honored at the highest levels.

Decades captured in a single frame
Destitute Children Rehabilitation
Janaseva Foundation rescues street children, abandoned youth, and destitute individuals from the margins of society, providing them with shelter, nutrition, and counseling. Through its rehabilitation center in Katraj, the Foundation gives these children a second chance — restoring their dignity and opening doors to education and a better future.
Education & Skills Development
The Foundation runs nursing schools and vocational training programs that equip young men and women with practical skills for careers in healthcare and beyond. By investing in education, Janaseva ensures that the next generation has the tools to build stable, dignified lives for themselves and their families.
Elderly Care & Healthcare
Janaseva Foundation operates well-equipped old-age homes in Pune and Ambi, offering free or subsidized care, companionship, and medical support to elderly individuals who have nowhere else to turn. Mobile medical units also visit 15–20 rural villages every week, bringing primary healthcare and thousands of free cataract surgeries to those who need it most.
Rural Development
The Foundation has adopted several villages under its Adarsh Gram initiative, working to make them self-reliant through clean water, sanitation, healthcare, and tree plantation programs. By improving livelihoods at the village level, Janaseva helps young people stay rooted in their communities rather than migrating to cities in search of work.
