During 2nd wave covid pandemic, Disaster Management Authority (DMA) of Government of Maharashtra declared this hospital as Covid Care Centre to take care of the entire rural population from this region and more than 1000 Covid infected people got benefitted.
Janaseva Foundation has adopted rural villages to be developed as Adarsh Gram. The population here subsists on meager income derived from small piece of farm land. As the income is insufficient to meet the families needs youngsters either migrate to Pune city or obtain work here. To help these villagers foundation has undertaken following activities :
In Block Velhe, Dist. Pune foundation has constructed more than 2700 toilets for families and few schools from 30 villages since 2007. The major donors for the construction of toilets are Rotary Club of Pune Riverside, Rotary Club of Pimpri Pune, Philanthropist Shri Anil Deshpande.
To eliminate health problems related to contaminated and polluted water foundation has distributed 1500 water filters to the families from various villages Foundation has installed 11 RO Water Purification Plants in the villages from Blocks Bhor & Velhe and 1 in a school in Block Haveli
Foundation has distributed 6000 saplings of fruit bearing plants to 500 families from 10 peripheral remote villages in order to either augment their income or to provide fruits for the families specially the elderly.
The foundation had taken up Green Valley Project in cooperation with Sufalam Nursery (Shri Raman Khinvansara) and Lions International. Under the project, nearly 1000 trees including medicinal plants have been planted on 2.5 acres of land at Ambi and Katraj. Every year employees and volunteers from various IT companies e.g Accenture, Sinsan Pharma etc. participate in tree plantation drives in various villages.
Elderly are imparted information on how to open bank accounts, agriculture and associated occupations. NSS students sent to the foundation to get the experience of social work. Visit these villages, stay there, listen to the grievances, arrange meetings with the concerned authorities, impart information on various issues etc. 700 students from MIT College had stayed in these villages for 2 days and imparted them information on various issues.
Helping victims of natural disasters is an important part of the Foundation’s activities. For instance, the Foundation raised Rs. 13 lac on its own for the flood victims in the Mahad area during 2005 and added another Rs. 2 lac donated by philanthropic organizations like Maharashtra Foundation and Share and Care. The trustees of the Janaseva Foundation made it a point to visit the affected areas and conveyed them help in the form of foodgrains, clothes, medicines and money. Recently foundation collected Rs. 10 lakhs and handed over the cheque to Hon’ble Devendra Phadnavis, Chief Minister of Maharashtra towards Chief Ministers Draught Relief Fund.
Foundation has built a kitchen garden around the Oldage Homes. Here Senior Citizens spend their time in doing various works as per their capacity which keeps them engaged and physically active. Now with the help of Sakal Social Foundation and Rajmata Jijau Health & Nutrition Mission of Maharashtra State planned for Parasbag (kitchen garden) in 5 villages e.g. Ambi, Pabe, Kuran, Kadve & Varasgaon.
Taking into account the need of milk for the elderly and the patients, foundation’s well wisher Rotarian Ishwar Uttamchandani and Mrs. Minoo Uttamchandani, Rotary Club Pune Riverside, gave donations for dairy project and every year they are giving some maintenance. This project will be renovated. Gobar gas plant and kitchen garden are run on this project.
The concept of CSR was introduced in FY 2014-15 by the Indian government to involve corporates in social development. Recognizing its importance, the foundation established a CSR department, headed by Mr. Surender Kumar, who has relevant education and extensive experience. The foundation obtained a CSR Certificate from the Ministry of Corporate Affairs to receive donations under CSR. Under Mr. Kumar’s leadership and guidance from Dr. Vinod Shah, the foundation has secured grants exceeding Rs. 10 crores and continues to pursue new collaborations. Regular interactions with corporates and proper grant utilization have built trust and credibility. This has attracted fresh inquiries from other companies, further expanding the foundation’s reach.
With the help from various CSR Donors following eco-friendly units have been installed to prevent pollution and conserve energy.

The Oriental Insurance Co. Ltd. has sponsored meals for 50 destitute children residing at Destitute Rehabilitation Centre, Bhilarewadi, Katraj, for 1 year, along with transportation for the children during this timeline.
Additionally, a healthy diet for the residents at the Old Age Homes in Ambi has been provided for a duration of four months. Janaseva Foundation Pune has also contributed significantly for an A-Scan machine, offering support for cataract surgeries.
