Destitute Rehabilitation Centre

Built at Bhilarewadi, Katraj it’s construction began with generous donation of Rs. 43.5 lacs from Shri Kaku, Consulate General of Japan and was inaugurated in 2002 by Hon’ble Shri Vilasrao Deshmukh, then Chief Minister of Maharashtra in the presence of Shri Hidayu Date, Consulate General of Japan. Now it’s capacity has been increased to accommodate 150-160 destitute children from poor / broken families in separate facilities for boys and girls with all the amenities.  They are supported totally free and are admitted in various schools. Many children admitted here at very young age have completed their school, college, professional educations and now are employed on good salaries and married too.

Previously adult destitute from road, bus and railway stations were brought here in our vans and were provided lodging, boarding & medical care. Later based on their education, skills and aptitude suitable vocational training was given to them e.g. embroidery, tailoring, artificial jewelry making, broom making training etc. with intention to rehabilitate them back to the society.

Ram Padma Godbole Pratishthan sponsors about 50-70 children every year. Dr. Jayant Navarange is the driving force behind it along with their trustee Dr. Mrs. Vijayanti Khanvilkar have donated more than a crore.

Care and Education of Street (Smart) Children

Children living at roadside are the most neglected section of the society. To offer them education and health care and to bring them back to the mainstream foundation under the leadership of Mrs. Meena Shah started this project in 2012 for the children from nomadic tribe called Potraj. Thereafter foundation extended this to other street children from various locations in Pune city. Foundation provides them all the logistic support including medical care, extra coaching, transport and protein supplements. To reach out to children foundation’s social workers visit various locations and conduct surveys, counsel the children and their parents to persuade them to take up the school education. Children with very less previous education are now showing excellent progress in their curricular and extra curricular activities due to which few children are supported by corporate houses for higher education and and even for skill development training.
